Another great week with guests from America and the UK joining us for some winter sunshine and the weather did not disappoint
We set off on our first walk the El Somo Circuit
The dramatic scenery proves a hit with the group
Ellie and Charlie are glad our guests are all dog lovers and are able to join us
We see some early blossom which contrasts with the blue sky
The last stage of the walk takes in The Arches – formed by wind erosion
Our second walk takes in the Segaria
With great views of the rice fields from the ridge
The following day we walk the Caballo Verde
We walk about 15k including the 2000 steps
Day 5 and it’s our coastal walk – Smuggler’s Cove
The bay looked amazing in the sunshine
We test our guests balance on the rock
Then we walk up to the under-cliff
The lavender is now in full bloom and looks stunning against the colour of the sea
The final day and it’s the Bernia
We gain ascent and reach the tunnel
When we reach the other side we are joined by a group of Alpine Accentors which are amazingly friendly and tame
We then walk across the scree
Lunch at the ruins of the fort
Then back to the start point via Echo Valley.
It has been a great week with a great bunch of people.
Our guests arrive on New Year’s Eve for a weeks walking and they come from all over the world to see in the New Year with us.
Sonya and Stephen have travelled all the way from Australia, Paula and Phil from the U.S.A. Evelyn journeyed from Canada, Eszter and Sven flew in from Germany, John and Jane from England and Lynne from Scotland.
Although our intrepid friends have travelled many thousands of miles they are keen to get walking in the sunshine, so within an hour of their arrival we are off on the Segaria. We walk from the village of Benemelli
Gaining height towards the ridge
When we reach the top there are great views over the rice fields in the Pego Valley. After the walk they return back to Carrascal and freshen up – then it’s an 8 course banquet, before seeing in the New Year with Cava and Lucky Grapes on the stroke of midnight!
It’s January 1st and the weather is amazing – we are off on the Somo Circuit
We cover about 16k including an extension to view the magnificent Arches formed by wind erosion.
The following day we walk the Caballo Verde – again in clear blue skies – as you can see our dogs Charlie and Ellie are pretty keen!
Everyone is relaxed and enjoy the sunshine and great views
Day 3 and it’s another wonderful day – today we walk straight from the Casa to Coll de Rates with great views of Parcent
What a good looking bunch!
Onward and upward towards the Coll
Pausing at the Finca for a banana break with great views towards Montgo – before descending back into the village
Day 5 is Valencia – our merry band of travellers experience the delights of this historic city with the amazing conrtasts of the modern architecture of the Science Museum
It’s January 5th and today it’s our coastal walk – the wonderful weather continues
Rock-hopping in the Barranca is always a favourite
Then on to Moraira for a paddle in the sea
We return to Parcent and watch the arrival of the Three Kings
We are treated to a glimpse of Parcent’s wonderful church
The last day and we head for the Bernia
It’s a great walk with excellent views
A great way to finish a wonderful week – thanks to all our guests for making it a truly memorable week – and for coming so far!
